Nanobubble technology

The availability of oxygen at root level is essential for optimal plant development. Roots need oxygen to breathe and to release energy as they absorb nutrients and water.

What are the nanobubbles

A nanobubble is a bubble of nanometre size. They are a million times smaller than visible bubbles. They are smaller than 200 nm in size (ranging from 70 to 120 nm).

Because of their size, nanobubbles exhibit unique properties that enhance numerous physical, chemical and biological processes, outperforming all other scalable gas transfer methods for the following reasons:

Mass transfer

Due to its large cubic capacity and contact surface, it is a very efficient method, reaching saturation levels with different gases in a much more optimal and controllable way than traditional technologies.

Potential Z Negative

Nanobubbles have such a high negative electrical charge that they promote repulsion between them, increasing stability over time. They act as solid particles that drag, scrape and clean.

Long suspension

Because of their size, nanobubbles no longer rise to the surface (like conventional and micro bubbles). They remain suspended and stable in the liquid for long periods of time (weeks or even up to 6 months in the laboratory).

Gas reserve

The nanobubbles move randomly through the water like pollen in the air and disperse to distribute the gas throughout the volume of the liquid, acting as a gas reservoir that continuously delivers oxygen.

Particle separation

When the nanobubbles are stimulated, they destabilise and collapse, releasing the hydroxyl radical (OH), one of the most powerful oxidants that reduce or eliminate microorganisms (fungi, algae and bacteria) that are difficult to treat or eliminate in water.

They release energy

Roots need oxygen to breathe and to release energy as they are responsible for absorbing nutrients and water. Nanobubbles can enhance the absorption of water and nutrients by roots by increasing the rate of cell cytoplasmic flow in plants.

Benefits of superoxygenation with Nanobubbles in Agriculture

  • Algae control in reservoirs

  • Biofilm reduction

  • Improving soil health

  • Cleaning and sterilisation in the food washing process

  • Minimal environmental footprint
