For this reason it is of great economic importance worldwide. The main commercial species are Cattleya, Cymbidium, Phalaenopsis or Vandas.

Greenhouse cultivation of orchids provides ideal conditions for healthy orchid growth, allowing growers to control key environmental factors such as temperature, humidity and lighting.

What is the best greenhouse for Orchid Cultivation?

Greenhouses protect plants from inclement weather and possible attacks by pests and diseases, which contributes to more vigorous and healthy growth.

There are different types of greenhouses available for orchid cultivation, ranging from traditional glass greenhouses to the more economical transparent plastic (polyethylene) tunnels.

Optimal growing conditions

  • Light > light intensity in the acclimatisation phase 1000lux, and in flowering 5000 to 6000lux.

  • Relative humidity > acclimatisation between 70% to 80%.

  • Temperature > For orchids indoor greenhouse temperatures (14ºC min. and 28ºC max.)
