SOLARZONE. Project for soil disinfection with ozone

Development of an innovative system for the disinfection of agricultural soils using ozone.

Soil disinfection is a necessary practice in agriculture. This action avoids the negative effects produced by the parasites generated by the continuous repetition of a crop in the same area. Fungal diseases cause a worldwide loss of 12% of crops. There are numerous pathogenic fungi in the soil. They are saprophytes, i.e., they live in the soil in decaying organic matter. Under the right conditions (humidity and high temperatures) they develop into parasites.

Project objectives

The research deals with the development of a system for the disinfection of agricultural soils using ozone.
  • Alternative to chemical treatments that cannot be replaced by other physical systems.
  • It must be framed within the set of techniques and practices that make it possible to implement intensive and sustainable agriculture.
Development of ozone generation equipment with the capacity to generate production that determines the design of the disinfection system, according to the ozone needs of the system and according to the following criteria:
  • Economic.
  • Easy to handle.
  • Suitable for the intended function of use in the whole system of soil disinfection for agricultural use.

Result of the project

Achieving the overall objective will have an immediate consequence: Increased benefits to the end user: the farmer. Provide you with equipment that does not require a large investment, is easy to operate and can provide effective disinfection to increase agricultural productivity. Framed in a set of effective and sustainable practices with the environment and human beings.   Project partners
