What is drip irrigation ?

Drip irrigation or Localized drip irrigation is a method of irrigation that allows an optimal application of water and fertilizers in protected crops under greenhouse.

The applied water infiltrates into the soil or substrate directly irrigating the root zone of influence through a system of pipes and emitters.

They are very common for greenhouse crops of cucurbits and vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.

Drip Irrigation Systems, Hydroponics or Aeroponics are very efficient irrigation systems for highly profitable crops that require a rigorous control of the entire production process.

To get the best results from your crops, you must feed your plants according to their development cycle. And one of the advantages of drip irrigation systems is that they allow (through the installation of the XILEMA fertigation system) to provide a very precise amount of water and nutrients.

This precision is essential in soilless greenhouse cultivation, as substrates have a very low retention capacity. Water and nutrients must therefore be supplied in small doses and with great precision.

Although the investment in this type of irrigation is somewhat higher, the advantages it offers mean that the costs are recovered very quickly.
