Citrus trees requirements

Citrus fruits demand light for growth, flowering, and fruiting processes (which occur on the outside of the crown). Therefore, the greater exposure to sunlight, the greater plants, and fruits growth.

  • Soil > Varies between sandy and clayey. Soils with good drainage and roots aeration are recommended.

  • Optimum temperature > between 20 – 30 °C.

  • Light winds > winds

  • Cold > Low resistance to cold. Does not tolerate frost.

  • Prunin > Secures nutrients for the fruit and brings more light and air indoors.

How to grow citrus successfully?

Citrus fruits require plenty of water for optimal development. Therefore, it is recommended (especially in areas of low rainfall and arid soils) to implement drip irrigation strategies to optimize water application and nutrients in the root zone.
